Thank you for taking the time to apply to volunteer at WOMAD NZ! Please read all of the information in the application carefully before completing.

Applicants are not guaranteed volunteer work. WOMAD NZ will select people suitable to the available positions.

We place trust in our volunteers to assist us in presenting a quality experience to our audience. To ensure all areas of the festival run smoothly and efficiently we rely on our volunteers to turn up and work their rostered shifts. In return you will be given a 3-day pass that will allow you to enjoy the festival before or after your rostered hours.

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT PROCESS
  • Application period from 24 Sept 2021 - 28 February 2022
  • Applications will be assessed on an ongoing basis during the above period
  • Application close date may change based on numbers of applications

SELECTION & CONFIRMATION
  • An applicants suitability will be assessed for the role(s) that you have applied for
  • Applicants will be advised by email of the outcome of their application
  • Approved volunteers will receive an agreement outlining your obligations, the area or role you are assigned to and your team leader
  • Please remember you may not receive your preferred role
  • Compulsory volunteer briefings will be held in advance of the festival. Your team leader will advise the date and location
  • Due to government regulations regarding COVID-19, all volunteers at WOMAD NZ 2022 will need to be fully vaccinated.

Site Operations Team
Rename Campsite/Racecourse Carparking Team (12 - 9pm Friday 18th only)City Host (Local Residents only) - Before the festival. Assisting visitors & key points around city.WOMAD Angels - Assisting with roaming the site, supervising intoxicated patrons.General Cleaner - Based in several locations onsite.Tent Guardian – Roaming to ensure no tents are erected to obstruct others viewing.Information Centre – Customer service in the WOMAD info centre.Traffic Management Assistant – During festival, managing traffic flow in certain locations.Over 65+ Stand Assistant - Stationed at the over 65+ stand.Portacom Site Ops Assistant - Stationed at the entrance to Site Ops, managing who is allowed in.Queue Management - Before & during festival. OUTSIDE the gates managing any queues.Site Operations Assistant/Runner - Assisting the site operations team.
Green Team
Zero Waste Assistant – Man Zero waste stations, transport & sort rubbish. Festival site & campsite.
Site Build/Pack Out Team
Trellis Take Down – Taking down the trellis.General Hand - After the festival. Assisting in deconstruction & pack out.General Hand - Before the festival. Assisting in building the festival site. Flag De-install - After the festival. Assisting in taking down the flags.
Kidzone Team
Kidzone Assistant - Before & during the festival. Working in the Kidzone area, various duties.
Media Team
Media Assistant - Assisting the media team as required.
Wostore Team
Retail Assistant - Before & during the festival. Working within the WoStore.
Technical Team
Technical Food Deliveries - Before the festival. Collection & distribution of crew meals.Stage Runner - Based backstage assisting in stage set up & other duties.
Gate Services Team
Gate Services - Checking tickets, scanning, wristbanding
Artist Liaison Team
Ground Transport Assistant: Before, during & after festival. Based OFF SITE. Transporting artists.CD signing - Managing the Artist CD signings at the WOSTORE.Backstage Assistant – Situated backstage. Ensuring artists requirements are met.

Do you require a camping pass? *
Approved volunteers are eligible to receive a complimentary 3-day GENERAL camping pass. Please indicated below if you require a GENERAL camping pass. You will need to supply your own camping equipment including tent.
If you require an other type of camping pass  i.e MOTORHOME, you will need to purchase this (do not purchase until you have received an acceptance letter with the correct code). This is subject to availability. NO FAMILY CAMPING IS AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEERS.

  • Complete 24 hours of volunteer work either BEFORE or AFTER the festival as rostered
